MY SITE IS GONE
I can't see this! My page is gone! What in the name of high heaven is going on?
Okay, anyone else noticing that there are waaay too many "WTF?" posts recently? Still ironing out those bugs.

TheMiddle has moved away from the deprecated server that is ligeti.cwru.edu, it's bizzaro apache virtual host config, kludge of various other websites and CWRU ITG apps, and most importantly the fact that it was carved out of wood.
Now, things are speedy and nice. Isn't that better? Not that you can tell, horking up a PHP file with no php code in it was no biggie. The MT interface was unusable, however.
So, now that that's settled, I can focus on my last couple of changes I mentioned recently
So something is horribly wrong with my index template and the site layout.
Weird thing is this was working just fine yesterday? Have I been h4X0r3d??
I found a new keyboard, for you J$. Maybe one day I'll move up to one of these myself.
Just a few more updates left in the works...
I got a little treat from the UPS man today, which I'll be using as a warmup for the big one on March 24. I feel bad about my free time being sucked away by a video game, but alas, it's Zelda, I couldn't stop myself even if I wanted to.
The Middle is in desparate need of a final push to get it over the edge and to the point that it's where I want it to be (or at least somewhere close enough to that that I can live without constantly adding more things, but since I just got home from work, I'm just checking in to see if there was any news from J$. There wasn't. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now.
So I'm talking with J$ via comments over the last few days, and he comes up with quite an interesting query:
On another MT note, have you looked at the DB structure. (Atrocious, I know.) Do you know where the fuck it stores category_id's for entries?
So, I did some digging, and the categories are in the mt_placement table, the fields are pretty self-explanatory once you realize what you're seeing. I haven't really decided if the way they're storing it is good or bad, but it certianly works.
More Below.
The Middle is currently using one of the pre-canned styles that ships with MT. Should it change? Maybe? Is it a horrible insult to Jakob Neilson? Probably. Do I care? Not particularly. I spend all day on a webapp that has to work in 47 languages, look pretty, be handicap-accessible, etc, and that's really annonying.
This is good enough for me. I like charcoal grey. And Jakob Neilson is overrated anyway.
There, glad I got that off of my chest.
The Middle has a great deal of work left to be done:
So what happens when I trackback to blog that trackbacks to me?. Quite an interesting experiment, my guess is "nothing, really". Based on the looks of things, it would appear that J$ and his bizzare dichotomy of web sites are approaching a point of rebirth, as he announces his intentions to "go live".
I can hardly wait. Can you?
On a more serious note, J$, you should work on your individual archive template, and not make the next & prev links span categories. That's annoying, one liners intermixed with real content, wheat and chaff all intertwined, readers confused, mass hysteria, dogs and cats, living together in harmony, it's insanity in the streets I tell you. And hurry up with that DB wipe, the trackbacks list has a busted link on left.
Ftrain: August 2009: How Google beat Amazon and Ebay to the Semantic Web This is a very interesting speculation on where the web is going, and why Google could be the company to take it there. Not too much fluff, and based on reading around the author's site, I got the impression he wasn't just an idiot, which is the impression I get from most people who babble on about "the next big thing".
Hey, check out Left Half: Trackbacking to the Right Half. That was my little trackback/bookmarklet/arstechnica-lite theme/other stuff test. Wasn't that fun? This is blogging at its best, can't beleive everyone's not doing it. Google is.
Hopefully?
First Post! First Post!
It's a miracle. This MT thing is not so bad, I'm a little more impressed now that I've done some research. Install was smooth, config was easy, not too shabby.
